Thomas Pierce Yardley Jr.

As a product of conflict, litigation can bring out the worst in people. My goal is to remain objective enough to recognize opportunities amongst the chaos and passionate enough to know how to translate those opportunities into workable solutions.

My Background

In my over twenty-five years of experience, I have become very familiar with the figurative noise that litigation often creates. In almost all cases, litigation generates a great deal of intensity and my job is to match the intensity with professionalism so that my clients’ interests are not eclipsed by the fact and circumstances of the dispute. I’ve witnessed how quickly personal dynamics can transform the litigation process. My job is to plan for that level of intensity and remain focusedenough to identify strategies and opportunities that will advance the case toward an appropriate resolution.

Competition and intensity can be productive when they are channeled into exhaustive case preparation and execution of a tailored and appropriate strategy for resolving the dispute. As a person and as a lawyer, I am driven to succeed and continuously tap into that competitive drive in the form of a complete commitment to deliver results to my clients.

With over two decades of experience, I’ve handled litigation matters of all shapes and sizes for small business owners, high net worth individuals and corporations. I’ve successfully represented clients in both state and federal court, on matters including:

  • commercial and contractual disputes
  • corporate litigation (employment, breach of fiduciary duty and contract disputes)
  • bankruptcy and creditors' rights matters
  • employment cases
  • Condominium and Real Estate Disputes

Additionally, I’ve obtained successful verdicts as a first and second chair in both jury and non-jury cases at both the state and federal level. While in law school, I prosecuted cases for the Cook County States’ Attorneys’ Office under Illinois Supreme Court Rule 711 in the felony trial division at 26th and California. Upon graduating from law school, I served as a law clerk to Cook County Circuit Court Judge Paddy McNamara on Calendar E. While working as an attorney, I obtained my MBA in electronic commerce from Depaul University Kellsttadt Graduate School of Business. Over the years, my MBA has been essential in helping me to understand business disputes from an entirely different perspective and to identify and understand various strategic issues that directly impact the direction of the litigation.
