Donna M. Shaw

The fundamentals of a good relationship, whether professional or personal, are trust and caring of others. People want to know you care about them and that they can trust you. I work very diligently for our clients so they know I truly care about them and their matters on a personal level so they see me as worthy of their trust.

My Background

As a transactional attorney, I practice primarily in the areas of secured lending and commercial real estate. I represent financial institutions and borrowers in asset based financing and real estate lending involving acquisition financing, construction loans and lines of credit secured by shopping centers, office buildings, apartment buildings, hotels and student housing developments. In my real estate practice, I represent clients in the sale and acquisition of commercial real estate.

My practice is devoted to helping my clients achieve their business goals, typically by closing their financing, acquisitions or sales. I offer the benefit of years of experience handling a wide range of transactions including large, multi-million dollar transactions. Over the course of those years, I’ve seen first-hand the impact that strong analysis, organization and deal management can have on achieving a successful outcome of a deal, and these skills have come to shape my practice. My ability to listen to my clients’ objectives and concerns enables me to keep their interests at the focus of negotiations. As a transactional attorney, you need to be dynamic and flexible during the course of representing a client in a deal, which can often change courses. I appreciate the opportunity to partner with our other bright, accomplished attorneys to come up with creative solutions to accomplish a client’s goal when the initial plan or deal structure, for some reason, is no longer an option.

As a lawyer, it is truly rewarding to use my skills and talents each and every day to help my clients achieve their business goals. I thoroughly enjoy my practice and working with and getting to know my clients on a personal level. I am fully committed to providing them with the capable, responsive and professional legal services they deserve.

Survivor Story

In March of 2015, after completing treatment, I very fortunately became a “Survivor” of breast cancer. Here I am in May of 2015 with my daughters, participating in a cancer fundraising walk sponsored by a non-for-profit cancer organization in my hometown. I am always grateful to my family, all of my colleagues and friends at Robbins, Salomon & Patt, my friends and my doctors for all of their help and amazing support on this journey.
