AT WORK
Andrew W. Lapin, an
accomplished business lawyer with over 25 years of experience in real
estate, secured lending, franchising, mergers and acquisitions, and
corporate transactions, represents a broad array of clients, including
businesses in the small and middle markets, lenders providing
financing to small and middle-market businesses, and e-commerce
companies.
Andy represents entrepreneurial business owners, typically as
general counsel, in connection with business acquisitions and sales;
business structuring and restructuring; real property acquisitions,
sales and leasing; real property development (new construction,
condominium development and conversion, and acquisition of investment
real estate, including low-income properties); financing and
capitalization; franchising; and general business needs.
Andy’s clients
include financing companies and banks (both conventional and
government-guaranteed lenders). In this area of his practice, Andy
assists clients with document preparation, due diligence, closing and
post-closing matters, and workout and liquidation of delinquent loans,
as well as lender portfolio due diligence and evaluation.
IN THE PROFESSION
Andy, a lecturer for
the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (NAGGL),
teaches a course titled “Closing and Funding the SBA Loan.”
He has also written a textbook by the same name.
Andy is an active
member of the Chicago Bar Association (Real Property Committee, Real
Property Finance Subcommittee and Commercial Finance Committee), the
Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Mortgage Attorneys
Association and the National Association for Government Guaranteed
Lenders.
Andy’s
professional accomplishments have been recognized in Who’s
Who in American Law and Who’s
Who in
America
. In the May 2005 and February issues of
Chicago
magazine, he was designated an Illinois Super Lawyer, an honor given
to the top 5% of attorneys in the state. Andy has also been recognized
by the Leading Lawyers Network as a top
Illinois
lawyer in the areas of commercial real estate and closely and
privately held business law.
IN THE COMMUNITY
Andy currently
serves on the Executive Board of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and
has previously served on the board of the American Society for
Technion.
