When it comes to deals, a lot of people find the red flag issues and stop there. But at the end of the day, my clients still want to get the deal done. My job is to identify those issues, yet still find a way to make the deal happen.
I represent entrepreneurial business owners because their success depends on the same interests that drive my practice - growth and the creation of high, sustained value. This focus requires a tolerance for risk, which many lawyers view as mutually exclusive to the practice of law. My legal training helps me to identify risk, but decades of hands-on experience working in concert with some of the best business people in their fields, has offered me the chance to create, evaluate and structure growth opportunities for my clients that fit their risk profile.
My career spans diverse industries and clients, many of whom are franchise operators and real estate investors, operators and developers. After 35+ years practicing law, working with many kinds of business people operating diverse types of businesses, I find several seemingly universal client traits: passion, vision, and a resilient confidence. My clients do not let obstacles define them; together, we concentrate on finding creative solutions.
With sustained growth as a primary client focus, I work with my clients to hone and shape their businesses so that they can capitalize on the strengths of the business and themselves and to minimize the risks of suffering loss. For some, that means structuring or restructuring the business so that it’s in a better position to utilize financial leverage. For others, that may mean diversification into new enterprises that leverage the business owner’s strengths.
